Decision Maker Wheel
About Tool
Struggling to make a choice between several good options? This decision maker wheel adds a bit of fun and visual flair to the process of choosing. By mapping your options onto a virtual wheel and spinning it, you can let fate decide your next lunch spot, weekend activity, or even which task to tackle first on your to-do list.
Setting Up Your Wheel
To customize the wheel, type your choices into the Options textarea, with one option per line. One of the most useful features is the Remove winning option from the list after spin checkbox. This is perfect for scenarios where you need to make several choices in a row without repeating yourselfβsuch as picking names for a gift exchange or selecting players for a multi-round game.
If you prefer a more direct, non-visual way to pick a single winner, the Random Name Picker is very efficient. For those who want to see a fully reordered list of all their options rather than just one at a time, the List Randomizer is the better tool.
How to Spin and Decide
Once your options are entered, clicking Spin / Choose initiates the selection. The wheel visualizes the randomization process, landing on a single final result that is displayed clearly. If you have a change of heart or want to start over with a fresh list, the Reset and Clear buttons allow you to wipe the current settings instantly.
Creative Ways to Use the Wheel
The wheel isn't just for dilemmas. It's a popular tool for streamers to interact with their audience, teachers to make "gamified" classroom choices, and even families to pick movies on a Friday night. By turning a boring decision into a "game of chance," it helps reduce the decision fatigue that often comes from having too many choices.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a limit to the number of options?
While you can add many options, the visual slices of the wheel will become smaller. For lists with more than 50 items, a text-based picker might be easier to read.
Can I save my wheel for later?
The current version does not save data between sessions to ensure privacy. We recommend keeping your list in a text file or the Online Notepad if you use it frequently.
Are the chances equal for every slice?
Yes. Every option you enter gets an equal-sized segment on the wheel, ensuring a fair and unbiased result.
Can I add weights to certain options?
Currently, all options are weighted equally. If you want an option to have a higher chance of being picked, simply enter it on multiple lines.
